A-SUN RELEASE
KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second-consecutive week, junior
Jasmine McAllister has earned Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week honors after registering back-to-back double-doubles during the Owls' Thanksgiving trip to New York and New Jersey, it was announced Monday (Dec. 1) by the league office.
It is the second such honor for the Memphis native after earning her first Newcomer of the Week accolade last week and it is the second for the Owls this season.
"I am thrilled for Jasmine," said head coach
Nitra Perry. "She has been working extremely hard, but even more importantly she has been very consistent for our team. She is the ultimate team player and is very selfless."
McAllister opened the week with her second-consecutive double-double, posting 18 points, including a 7-of-11 mark from the field, and a season-high 15 rebounds as Owls' comeback at Seton Hall fell just short on Wednesday.
She continued her dominance on Saturday as KSU earned a 66-62 win at Columbia, with the junior putting up her fourth double-double of the season and third-straight with a game-high 19 points, including draining 7-of-9 free throws, and 10 boards.
For the week, McAllister averaged 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, while shooting the rock at a 61.9 percent from the field and a 73.3 clip from the charity stripe.
She leads the Owls and ranks third in the A-Sun with 15.8 points per game in her first season at KSU, while grabbing a conference-leading 11.8 boards per contest and is shooting the ball at a 53 percent clip.
McAllister and the Owls return to action on Wednesday (Dec. 3) as KSU travels the short distance to Atlanta for a game against crosstown rival Georgia State in the GSU Sports Arena at 7 p.m. ET.
