KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team added three more names into the program's prestigious Circle of Honor as former head coach
Scott Whitlock along with former Owls
Jennifer Nolan and
Brittany Matthews were inducted as KSU celebrated its annual Alumni Day at Bailey Park on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Â
Along with the Circle of Honor Induction Ceremony, the Owls also took part in an alumni game with the alumni winning a fun, competitive game. In the third inning, Amanda Malcolm hit a three run home run to cap off a seven run inning for the alumni.
Â
The current softball team then had a luncheon before wrapping the day up with two games against Middle Georgia where they won 9-6 and  6-0.
Â
The Circle of Honor aspires to pay tribute to all who made significant contributions to the softball program during their time as an Owl.
Â
Two of the most talented Owls to wear the Black and Gold, Nolan and Matthews' names are listed countless times within the softball record book. Both were members of the 2005 NCAA Division II national runner-up squad, with Nolan a 2005 NCAA All-Southeast Region and two-time all-conference selection during her time with the Owls. Matthews was named the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year, as well as a four-time all-conference selection and a nine-time A-Sun Pitcher of the Week during her four years at KSU.
Â
After a legendary 27 seasons at the helm of the Owls softball program and one as an assistant coach, Whitlock retired following the 2013 season. In his time as head coach of the Owls, Whitlock won two NCAA Division II national championships, 13 regional crowns and two Atlantic Sun Conference championships. A three-time A-Sun Coach of the Year, Whitlock is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Hall of Fame, the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame and the "Be the Best You Are" Softball Clinic Speakers' Hall of Fame. As head coach he compiled over 1,100 wins in his career and over 250 wins at the Division I level.
Â
KSU will conclude the fall season on Sunday, Oct. 6, with games against North Georgia (noon) and Georgia Tech (2 p.m.).
