MNT: KSU Plays Hard at Georgia Southern Championship

Wilton advances to main draw semi-finals.

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team began its second tournament of the fall season when it traveled to Statesboro, Ga. for the Georgia Southern Championship on Friday (Oct. 4).
 
In singles action, sophomore Jorge Wilton remains in the main draw after defeating Georgia Southern's Robbie Thompson in round one with a 6-3, 6-3 score. In the quarter-finals, Wilton defeated Georgia Southern's Marco Osorio retired in the second set. Wilton advanced to Saturday's semifinal match against Armstrong Atlantic's Ignacio Hernandez. The winner will advance to the main draw's championship match.
 
Freshman David Durham also had a good showing on Friday, scoring his first win as a Kennesaw State Owl. Durham defeated Georgia Southern's Kyle Hoffman 6-3, 6-3 in round one of the main draw.
 
"I saw significant improvement since the last time we competed," said head coach Eduardo Rincon. "We are definitely moving in the right direction as a program."
