INDIANAPOLIS — The Kennesaw State men’s golf team received the schools first-ever at-large bid to an NCAA postseason event, as the Owls were selected as the No.7 seed in the Ann Arbor, Michigan Regional, hosted at the University of Michigan Course.

The Black and Gold are making their second consecutive visit to the Regional as the squad finished third at the Southeastern NCAA Regional at the Golden Ocala Golf Club in 2011.

Kennesaw State returns after having another successful campaign in 2011-12, winning three team titles and capturing one individual medalist honors. The Owls are currently ranked No. 41 in the country, and will return four starters from last season’s postseason run.

"We are very excited to continue our season into NCAA Regionals,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “It has been a goal of ours all year to make it back to the NCAA Championship and to compete for a national title, and this is the first step towards that goal.  We are looking forward to going to the University of Michigan Course and doing our best to win our first Regional Championship.  Competition is very difficult at this level during post-season competition, but our team is up for the challenge.  I have watched our guys compete and get better all year long. I am confident that if we go to Ann Arbor and play our best, we will punch our ticket for a return trip to NCAAs."

No. 1 seed Southern California will join the Owls, along with No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 Kent State [Mid-American Conference], No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Baylor, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 KSU, No. 8 TCU, No. 9 Purdue,?No. 10 North Carolina State, No. 11 Notre Dame [Big East Conference], No. 12 Ohio State and No. 13 Navy [Patriot League].

The NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional is a preliminary round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship. The Ann Arbor Regional will consist of a 54-hole tournament with 13 teams and 10 individual players. The low five teams and low individual not on those five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship that runs May 29-June 3 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
