Official Conference Release

MACON, Ga. – The honors keep on coming for junior catcher Ronnie Freeman as he was voted by the conference office on Tuesday as one of 13 players to be named to the A-Sun Baseball Academic All-Conference Team.

Freeman posted a cumulative GPA of 3.88 while majoring in exercise and health science at KSU. He was just named to the All-Atlantic Sun First Team earlier on Tuesday as he helped lead the Kennesaw State baseball team to the No. 3 seed in this year’s Conference Tournament. Freeman was also one of only three players to be unanimously selected for the honor.

Freeman started in all 54 games for KSU and held a .352 batting average which was fifth best in the conference. He recorded a .500 slugging percentage (13th A-Sun), .426 on-base percentage (7th A-Sun) and tallied 74 hits (6th A-Sun). Freeman also finished second in the conference with 52 RBI’s and ninth in total bases with 105. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native also took home a Player of the Week award on March 19. He is also heading into the postseason on quite a hot streak as he hit .411 (30-for-73) over his final 18 games of the regular season.

The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams this fall to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better and participated in at least half of their team’s games.
