FRIDAY RESULTS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Freshman Tobi Menhofer (Pfronten, Germany/Gymnasium Hohenschwangau) and sophomore Louis Theodor (Jakarta, Indonesia/Jubilee School) teamed to post the Kennesaw State men’s tennis team’s first-ever doubles wins at the ITA Regionals on Friday, held at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center and Indoor Courts on the campus on Florida State.

“While I am obviously disappointed that we didn't take advantage of some opportunities to make some noise in singles, the doubles played by Louis and Tobi was excellent,” said Head Coach #T.J. Greggs#. “They pushed a nationally ranked doubles duo to the brink, and are becoming a real threat in doubles for us. We will come back tomorrow and try to redeem ourselves in singles consolations tomorrow.”

Menhofer and Theodor opened the tournament with a 8-5 win over Georgia Southern’s Verdam and Doherty, before advancing to the round of 16 with a victory over Florida Gulf Coast’s No. 1 tandem of Bao and Lvovsky, 8-2.  The duo’s run the in the main doubles draw would end in the round of 16, as the pair pushed the No. 19 doubles team in the country, Florida State’s Kelly-Houston and Reed, to the brink before falling 8-6.

Sophomore Alex Toliver (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral HS) and Alexander Pena (Johns Creek, Ga./Lambert HS) fell in their opening round doubles match, 8-3 and did not advance.

In singles action, both Menhofer and Toliver dropped their first round matches in the singles main draw, but will be back in action on Saturday in the singles consolation draw, starting at 9 a.m. ET.

Theodor and Pena both fell in singles qualifying draw on Thursday to round out the Owls.
