BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Freshman Reggie Lewis continued a successful freshman campaign setting two school records as the Kennesaw State men’s track and field team finished the Blazer Invitational-CrossPlex at the Birmingham CrossPlex with a successful showing.
Lewis collected a couple of top-10 finishes along with an 11th place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92. In the 200-meter dash, Lewis finished sixth posting a time of 21.93 to break the KSU program record. A record he set in his first collegiate meet ever in December at the SIU Fast Start.
In the distance events, Ryan Burruss posted the top finish as the junior collected a second place performance in the 5,000-meter with a time of 15:39.60. Cole Jackob finished eighth in the 800-meter running a time of 1:56.99 and fourth in the mile with a time of 4:30.95, and after winning their section of the distance medley, KSU finished fifth with a time of 10:31.83.
Anjoun Armaly had the top finish in the jumps as he gathered a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 14.40 meters, along with Lewis who finished fifth in the long jump with a length of 7.11 meters to set the school record.
In the throws, Casey Reynolds produced the best showing amongst the Black and Gold with a fifth place showing in the shot put with a distance of 15.45 meters and a 14th place finish in the weight throw.
The Owls will have two weeks off before returning to Birmingham to compete in the Birmingham Invite-Crossplex Jan. 25-26. For updates on the Invite, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUTracknFieldXC.
