KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State pitcher Bryan Blough was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 18th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft held on Tuesday evening in Secaucus, N.J.

Blough becomes the 33rd Kennesaw State player to be drafted in the 28-year history of the program and the 12th since the Owls became a Division I program. The right-hander was the 561st player selected in the draft and was the 18th player chosen by the White Sox.

“We are tremendously proud of Bryan,” said Kennesaw State head coach Mike Sansing. “He has done so much for Kennesaw State over the past two years and we are delighted that he has the opportunity to play professionally. We couldn’t be happier for Bryan and his family.”

Blough had an impressive senior season for the Owls, leading the staff with a 3.61 earned run average and a team-leading 84 strikeouts. The Newnan, Ga. native earned Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after he had a conference-best 14-strikeout performance against ETSU, one of two complete games he threw this year.

“Bryan really developed this season,” added Sansing. “He won several big games for us and was completely dominant many times during the year. He has very good stuff and I know he can do some big things professionally.”

The senior is the second Kennesaw State player to be drafted by the White Sox. In 1997, Brannon Whatley was drafted in the 17th round. Former KSU second baseman Willie Harris played four seasons for the White Sox from 2002-05.
