5/6/2011 12:58:19 PM

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State sophomore Ronnie Freeman was selected to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District® First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America in an announcement released by the CoSIDA offices on Friday afternoon.

Freeman, who is leading the Owls in hitting with a .370 average this season, was one of just six Atlantic Sun Conference players to be recognized with First Team honors. Freeman is ranked among the nations leaders in doubles and earlier this season hit in a Kennesaw State record, 42 consecutive games.

The Owls catcher and Exercise and Health major, is one of 11 District 3 First Team honorees, and will advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Freeman looks to become Kennesaw State’s second Academic All-America. In 2009, former Owls star, and Toronto Blue Jays first-round draft pick, Chad Jenkins, was voted to both the All-District and All-America teams.
