MACON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s soccer team kept the preseason conference honors coming this afternoon as junior Kristin Marietta was named to the Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Conference Team, which was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
“I'm delighted that Kristin is included on the Preseason All A-Sun Team,” Head Coach Rob King said. “She's coming back from a nagging long-term injury and is starting to play at her best again. We have several others who didn't get mentions for the preseason honor and I'm sure that will provide them with extra motivation throughout the season to prove why they also should have been included in this list.”
Marietta, a forward, earned 2009 A-Sun Second Team All-Conference honors after putting together her best year with the Owls. She finished last season in a tie for third on the team with 11 points on the strength of four goals and three assists. She recorded her first two-goal match of her career as well last season in a 7-0 win against Lipscomb on Oct. 9.
Kennesaw State is no stranger to having players named to the Preseason All-Conference Team as Marietta now makes 10 Owls to receive the honor in the last four years.
The Owls will play one more exhibition match against Georgia College and State University on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. which will be their final preseason tune up before they open their regular season on Friday, Aug. 20 in Charleston, S.C. against the College of Charleston.
