Taylor Mills, Knoxville News Sentinel Story
KENNESAW, Ga. – When Kennesaw State head women’s basketball coach Colby Tilley announced the signing of Gibbs (Tenn.) High School star Taylor Mills he had reason to smile as the legendary coach filled the point guard position with what he thought would be a rising talent with a bevy of potential. This summer, Mills is proving that she
may be more than that.
The incoming freshman, who was one of three finalists for the Tennessee Class AA Miss Basketball last season, is playing in the Women’s Pilot Rocky Top League and is a making a name for herself in the summer league.
Mills, who is a teammate of University of Tennessee star Alyssia Brewer on the Team Adidas squad, was featured in a piece in the Knoxville News Sentinel on June 22 after a solid performance which turned the heads of many summer league players.
“We all knew the caliber of player we got when we signed Taylor,” said Tilley. “And we are glad that she is excelling in the Women’s Pilot Rocky Top League this summer. She is a very talented young player and a person of good character. We are looking forward to
August when she arrives on campus and puts on the Lady Owls uniform.”
Mills is one of four signees for the 2010-11 season, joining Anderson, S.C. native Elania Gray, Oviedo, Fla. recruit Brandie Green and Christine Wyles of Australia.
