KENNESAW, Ga. - After helping to lead Kennesaw State's women's basketball team to back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference wins for the first time this season, freshman guard Brandi Jones has been named A-Sun Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Jones was sterling for the Lady Owls in their one-point wins over Mercer and USC Upstate.  Against the Bears on Thursday evening, Jones scored a game-high and career-best 19 points to lead KSU to a 52-51 win over their in-state rivals.  Against the Spartans, Jones tied for game-high honors with 14 points in the 69-68 win.  For the week, Jones averaged 13.7 points, becoming the second-leading freshman scorer in the A-Sun.

"Brandi had a very good week for us," said KSU head coach Colby Tilley.  "She has really matured and grown more confident as the season has gone by.  I think this is just the beginning of what will be great things for her."

The Eatonton, Ga., native becomes the first Lady Owl to win an A-Sun Player of the Week award this season.  As a program, the Lady Owls have won at least one A-Sun Player of the Week award every year since joining the conference.

Jones and the rest of the Lady Owls will be back in action this Thursday evening in Buies Creek, N.C., when they take on Campbell.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
