DeLAND, Fla. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will look to pick up an important win in the race to qualify for the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament when it faces Stetson Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.

The Lady Owls (5-13, 2-7) head into the final game of the first half of A-Sun play in a tie with Lipscomb for the seventh seed in the A-Sun Championships.  North Florida currently sits at 2-8 in conference play, one-half game behind Lipscomb and KSU.  With a win, the Lady Owls will fight their way into a tie with the Hatters at 3-7 in the conference, good for the sixth seed.

To get to that point, the Lady Owls must earn their first road win of the season.  In their last two contests, both on the road, the Lady Owls have had leads going in at halftime.  On Monday night in Spartanburg, S.C., KSU led 30-28 over USC Upstate, but eventually lost 73-66.  Thursday night in Ft. Myers, the Lady Owls led at the break, 31-30, before falling to Florida Gulf Coast, 79-52.

Angie Smith and Gia Lockett are tied for the scoring lead for the Lady Owls.  The sophomore Smith and the senior Lockett have both scored 207 points on the season, good for an 11.5 points per game average.  Smith also ranks third on the squad in rebounds, averaging 5.2 per game.

Stetson (3-15) is coming off a, 69-57, loss at the hands of Mercer Thursday night.  The Hatters were cold from beyond the 3-point line, going 3-of-21 as a team in the loss.

KSU and Stetson split the season series last year, with the road team winning on the others' home floor.  In the DeLand contest last season, Montinique Nixon had a double-double to lead the Lady Owls to a 64-51 win.
