KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held its Second Annual Fall Kick-Off on the campus green on Wednesday afternoon as student-athletes and coaches greeted students, faculty and staff while providing free food, drinks and activities.
More than 700 people attended the afternoon event that featured student-athletes from the 16 intercollegiate teams supported by the athletic department. Over 50 student-athletes and coaches participated in the event.
“The day was a success,” said Kennesaw State Director of Marketing Lauren Katovsky. “It is a way for us to introduce ourselves to the campus community in a fun way to create a loyal interest in athletics and encourage students to support our teams.”
Joining the student-athletes and coaches in the event were sponsors including Papa Johns Pizza, Chick-Fil-A, Bugaboo Creek, Joe’s Crab Shack, Kayson’s Bank of America, WGKA 920-AM, the new flagship station for the Owls as well as many more sponsors. In addition, many of Atlanta’s professional teams were on-hand and set up activities including the Braves, Hawks, Thrashers and Dream.
“This was a great way to kick off KSU’s first full-fledged Division I year,” added Katovsky. “We hope that the students will continue to come out and support athletics.”
The fall home season begins on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. when the women’s soccer team hosts the Mexico National Team at the KSU Soccer Complex.
