Two more recruits commit to KSU

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team added two more members to its incoming class during the late signing period as Talisha Chandler and Ashley Holliday each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lady Owls beginning in 2009-10.

Chandler will join Kennesaw State as a junior after playing two seasons at the University of Alabama. Chandler, a native of Clover, S.C., is a 6-foot-2-inch center who started in 17 of 26 games during the 2007-08 season as a sophomore for the Crimson Tide. Nine times during that season she led the team in rebounding and seven times she led the team in assists. She averaged 6.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, with her rebounding average ranking ninth in the Southeastern Conference.

"Talisha is a strong inside presence who will pay immediate dividends for us," said KSU head women's basketball coach Colby Tilley.

Holliday comes to Kennesaw State from J.L. Mann Academy in Greenville, S.C. A 5-foot-7-inch guard, Holliday can either run the offense from the point or play as a shooting guard. She was the Offensive Player of the Year for J.L. Mann during her senior season, en route to earning Girls AAA All-State honors. Holliday was the the Most Valuable Player of the South Carolina North/South All-Star game in March. She also has a state championship from Class AAA under her belt from her junior year and a region championship from her senior year.

"Ashley is a great shooter," said Coach Tilley. "She comes from a winning pedigree and has the willingness to compete, which will be a great asset this season."

Chandler and Holliday join a strong recruiting class already signed by Coach Tilley and his staff earlier in the recruiting period.
