The Owls finished out their fall season in impressive fashion placing 12th after shooting a 34-over par 874 in the prestigious Challenge at Onion Creek hosted by Texas State on Monday, Nov. 3.

Texas A&M led the field of 21 at the Onion Creek Club, shooting a 1-under par 839 for the tournament. After dominating the field on Monday, the University of San Francisco finished in second at 2-over par 842.

"This tournament was a great way to finish out our fall season," Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead said.  "Again, everyone on the team contributed and the ladies really hung in there today to place 12th in a deep field.  Jordan's [Lazenby] play this week was impressive, and I'm proud of how the team finished."

The Owls were led by Jordan Lazenby who shot an 8-over par 218 for the tournament, leaving her in a tie for 32nd. After carding a 74 in round one, Lazenby came back strong on Tuesday, shooting consecutive rounds of 72.

Following Lazenby in the standings in a tie for 42nd were both Ket Preamchuen and Patricia Arana, who finished up at 9-over par 219. Preamchuen began the tournament by carding a 76, before rebounding in the second round to shoot a 66, a new Kennesaw State record, before finishing out the event with a 77 in the final round.

"Ket's 4-under 66 was such a great round,"  Brinsmead said.  "She is very excited to have set a new KSU 18 hole record."

Arana meanwhile, shot her lowest round of the tournament on Monday, a 71. She remained solid on day two as well, carding rounds of 73 and 75.

Abby Fitzgerald finished just two strokes back of Preamchuen and Arana, ending the tournament in a tie for 53rd at 11-over par 221, after rounds of 72, 74, and 75.

Molly Winnett completed the scoring for the Owls, finishing in a tie for 76th at 15-over par 225. After carding a 76 in the first round, Winnett recorded progressively lower scores as the tournament went on, shooting a 75 in round two, followed by a 74 in the final round.
